Nicola Walker's next project after BBC's Marriage revealed
Nicola Walker wowed viewers with her performance in the BBC series, Marriage, and now that the four-parter has come to a close, many will be wondering what's next for the actress.

While the 52-year-old played Sean Bean's on-screen wife, Emma, in the relationship drama, her next role is very different.

The actress will be returning to play Detective Inspector Annika Strandhed for season two of the hit crime drama, Annika.
Based on the BBC Radio 4 drama Annika Stranded, the series follows the titular detective as she leads the Marine Homicide Unit in Glasgow, where she recently moved to along with her teenage daughter, who is struggling to adapt to her new school.
As the series synopsis teases, the DI is tasked with investigating "the unexplained, brutal, and seemingly unfathomable murders that wash up in the waterways of Scotland".

Throughout the series, which first arrived on Alibi last year, Annika breaks the conventional fourth wall by making the audience her confidante and sharing observations on cases as well as her life.

Alongside Nicola, fans can expect to see the return of Guilt star Jamie Sives as DS Michael McAndrews, The Nest's Katie Leung as DC Blair Ferguson, and Ukweli Roach (The Midwich Cuckoos) as DS Tyrone Clarke.
Silvie Furneaux (Limbo) will also return to play Annika's daughter, Morgan.
Chatting about season two in a statement, Nicola said: "We are all looking forward to fighting crime on sea and land with the MHU for a second series and there are secrets closer to home for Annika that will have to be faced. It's going to be a bumpy ride!"

Senior drama commissioner Philippa Collie Cousins added: "I'm thrilled to get the team back together on a second series of this refreshing, character-led crime drama.
"Nicola has such an authentic approach, she brings the character of Annika to life in a unique way and, by breaking the fourth wall with conviction and wit, she adds both real depth and laugh-out-loud moments. The first season stole the audience's hearts, and the second season will too!"
The cast are currently busy filming for season two, which is expected to arrive on Alibi in 2023 in the UK. Meanwhile, US audiences can enjoy series one on PBS Masterpiece.
