Nicky Campbell leaving BBC Radio 5 Live's breakfast show after 20 years
Nicky Campbell is leaving BBC Radio 5 Live's breakfast show after almost 20 years.
The presenter is moving on to host a weekday show based on his one-hour Your Call phone-in slot, which has been part of the breakfast show.
The new extended two-hour show is set to launch later in the year and will take up the 9-11am slot.

Campbell said in a statement: “It’s why I love 5 Live - hearing from listeners and talking to people about what really does matter to them and their communities. It’s a constant privilege hearing people’s passion, candour, anger and raw honesty. Our listeners make me listen. They make me think, laugh and cry. I can’t wait for this to start.

Coming later this year, @NickyAACampbell will have even more time to speak with listeners on air, each weekday, 9am - 11am.

“Leaving Breakfast is really tough after so many unforgettable programmes with Rachel and the team, but I’ve been getting up at four am for 19 years now so it’s time I had a bit more sleep!”
Campbell is also set to front a new podcast for 5 Live and BBC Sounds.
Speaking about his new programme on the station, Campbell said he would miss co-host Rachel Burden.

"Never been more excited about a new programme. It’s like a dream move. Except. I am going miss @rachelburden so much," he tweeted.

Burden responded with her own message which read: "End of an era. 😢 Beginning of a new one. And the show must go on."
His replacement for the breakfast show is yet to be announced.
