Update January 28: Emily Blunt has dedicated a song to Chris Martin in which she apologised for snubbing his attempt to involved in her and husband John Krasinski’s film A Quiet Place.

After Martin recently told Ellen DeGeneres that he emailed the famous couple about an idea for a musical for the award-winning film, Krasinski blamed his wife for a lack of response.

‘Emily what have you done!?!?’ the actor joked in an Instagram post, which prompted DeGeneres and singer Nick Jonas to chime into the faux disagreement.

In an interview with DeGeneres on Tuesday, the British actress addressed the mishap, explaining that she simply forgot to email the Coldplay frontman back.

‘So, Chris, here's the thing,’ she joked, addressing Martin.

‘I honestly was horrified when I watched [your interview on The Ellen Show] because I realise I'm not the best texter-backer in general. So I know what happened, and he sent us this very sweet, funny video of him miming A Quiet Place: The Musical, and I watched it at 11 o'clock at night, next to John, we're about to go to bed. And I remember going, 'Oh that's so sweet that's so funny. I'll write back in the morning. Forgot to write back in the morning.’

The Devil Wears Prada star continued, explaining that such a significant amount of time passed between her receiving the singer’s email and remembering she hadn’t replied that she felt she’d ‘left it too late’.

‘British people have a tendency to do this that when there's an issue we sort of sweep it under the carpet and pretend it never existed,’ she added.

‘I just kind erased Chris Martin from my life in that moment. I now deeply regret it because now I have to face the facts that it was hurtful.

Giving the singer a national apology, the actress continued to say: 'Chris, I love you. Always have, always will. And I'm very sorry. This is a massive sacrifice because I literally loathe singing for other people, so this is for Chris Martin.’

‘Chris, how long did you wait for me?’ she began the chorus of her tune dedicated to the father-of-two, inspired by the Coldplay hit ‘In My Place’. ‘Chris, my husband threw me under the bus.'

Nick Jonas is the latest celebrity to join in actor John Krasinski's email drama with his wife Emily Blunt and Coldplay singer Chris Martin.

Earlier this week, Martin appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and revealed to the show's host that he had made a video in which he mimed playing the piano and singing, without sound.

'When A Quiet Place came out, I had an idea for a joke afterwards,' the British star told DeGeneres, after she showed him the trailer to Krasinski and Blunt's upcoming horror film sequel, A Quiet Place: Part II.

'And it was just me like that,' he revealed, alluding to the clip of him singing.

Martin continued, explaining that he sent the famous couple a joke musical pitch for their film, but never received a response.

'Now every time I see that trailer [for the sequel] it makes me feel sick,' he joked.

Soon after DeGeneres shared the interview on her Instagram account, Krasinski - who directed and starred in the award-winning film - responded on the post, writing: 'I... did not get an email from Chris Martin. The man is a world treasure.'

The Office star went on to jokingly blame his wife for the lack of email correspondence, adding: 'Are you kidding me!?!? Emily what have you done!?!?'

'Well, blaming Emily seems like a great strategy,' responded DeGeneres on the post.

Singer Nick Jonas - who is also the husband of former ELLE cover star Priyanka Chopra - also chimed into the conversation, telling Krasinski, 'I also sent you an email. Telling you how incredible I [thought] the film was... I too did not get a reply.'

After another user complained that Krasinski never replies to them either, Jonas responded: 'Well, we're all in this together.'

In a blind panic, the actor asked DeGeneres' followers: 'What email did you sent to? Did Emily give you the wrong one? What is happening!?'

After reading Jonas' compliment describing Krasinski as being 'truly one of my favourite filmmakers', the director added: 'Well that?... Now that just made my day.

'Thank you sir.'
