Nick Cordero: Amanda Kloots shares photos and videos from late husband's phone
Amanda Kloots has shared some of her favourite moments captured by her husband Nick Cordero, who died on Sunday from coronavirus complications at the age of 41.
On Tuesday, Amanda posted a series of the photos and videos she found on her late husband’s phone after opening it for the first time since he was hospitalised with Covid-19.
Alongside a photo of Nick’s phone screen, Amanda wrote on her Instagram stories: “Just opened Nick’s phone for the first time. 835 texts since he went into a coma.”
In the next story, she shared an image of Nick holding their one-year-old son Elvis Eduardo, which was taken on 16 March, adding: “I looked at Nick’s phone today and found some gems that I’ll share with you.”
Among the photos Amanda shared were a picture of Nick and Elvis posing next to the family’s first car, as well as a shot of them enjoying an outdoor picnic.
She also posted several videos from Cordero’s phone of him performing to the camera. In one clip, the Broadway star can be seen improvising the lyrics to a tune, singing: “You can make a song about anything / About a car or a bus or a bird that sings / You can make a song about a bell that rings / You can make a song about anything.”
In another video shot from Cordero’s perspective, Amanda can be seen singing House of Pain’s “Jump Around” to their son as she cradles him in her arms.
She stated that the clip was filmed on 25 March, just days before the actor was hospitalised.
Nick died on Sunday 5 July at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he had been for more than 90 days due to complications of the coronavirus.
Amanda announced the news on Instagram that night, writing: “God has another angel in heaven now. My darling husband passed away this morning.
“He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth.”
She added that she was “in disbelief and hurting everywhere” and described her husband as a “bright light”.
“He was everyone’s friend, loved to listen, help and especially talk. He was an incredible actor and musician.”
Amanda continued: ”He loved his family and loved being a father and husband. Elvis and I will miss him in everything we do, everyday.”
Over the course of 13 weeks, the Tony-nominated star faced a series of complications during his hospitalisation, including septic shock, two mini strokes and a leg amputation.
In support of Cordero’s family, a GoFundMe page was created to raise funds for his medical bills and has since amassed more than $980,000 (£782,765).
