In their final game of the season, Buffalo Sabres fans were treated to a very unique National Anthem performance, as injured goaltender Malcolm Subban came onto the ice to belt out The Star-Spangled Banner.

Subban, 28, hasn’t played since mid-January after suffering an upper-body injury which resulted in season-ending surgery. That didn’t stop him from hitting the ice on Friday, however, as he confidently walked out with a Sabres uniform on and put on an extremely impressive performance.

As you can imagine, many fans seemed both surprised and delighted that one of the team's players was the one singing the anthem. As good as the fans found it, however, his teammates seemed to take even more pleasure in it. At one point, the camera panned to Jeff Skinner, who was looking at a few of his teammates with a grin from ear to ear. There were several others on the bench as well who seemed quite amused by it all, including Dylan Cozens and Alex Tuch.

Whether it was pure coincidence or not, Subban seemed to spark the Sabres, as they went on to defeat the Chicago Blackhawks by a 3-2 overtime final. Although they missed the playoffs yet again, the future does seem promising for this young squad, who battled hard right until the end and were rewarded with five wins over their final six games.
