Over the past three years, Killing Eve has made a star out of Liverpool-born 28-year-old actor Jodie Comer and won Sandra Oh a Golden Globe 14 years after first winning for her longstanding role in Grey's Anatomy.

It's also had an impressive roster of incredibly talented female writers at its helm and cemented Comer's endearing psychopathic assassin character Villanelle as a true fashion icon.

But as of today (March 16, 2021), it's been confirmed that the next series of the hit show will be its last.

Here's everything we know about season four of Killing Eve (WARNING: The below contains spoilers for season 3 of Killing Eve) ...

Is Killing Eve Season 4 the final season?

According to the Hollywood Reporter, BBC America and the AMC network have confirmed the news. In a statement provided to the entertainment outlet, Oh said the show had been one of her 'greatest experiences' while Comer said of season four: 'Although all good things come to an end, it’s not over yet. We aim to make this one to remember!'

What happened in Killing Eve season 3?

The third season picked up with Eve working in a restaurant in south London and Villanelle about to marry, moving firmly on from the season 2 finale when Eve had been left for dead in Rome.

Of course, the cat-and-mouse duo soon found their way back to each other and individuals like Niko ended up as collateral damage. Fiona Shaw was back as the brilliant Carolyn, who ended up turning down Villanelle's proposal to become an informant for MI6.

New characters were introduced too. There was Villanelle's trainer Dasha, Kenny's (RIP) boss Jamie, Carolyn's daughter and Villanelle's family in a particularly brilliant episode featuring a lot of Elton John music, set in the Russian countryside.

The final shot of the season featured Villanelle and Eve face to face on Tower Bridge, agreeing that they must stay away from each other... before turning back to one another once more.

Is there a release date for Killing Eve season 4?

Not yet, according to The Hollywood Reporter production on the fourth series is set to start in the UK this summer and eight episodes will be released for the series' final instalment.
