NEWS OF THE WEEK: De La Soul co-founder Trugoy the Dove dies aged 54
The group's publicist, Tony Ferguson, revealed the star, real name David Jolicoeur, died on Sunday. He gave no further details. The late artist had previously disclosed his struggle with congestive heart failure. He was not onstage with his bandmates during the hip-hop tribute performance at the Grammy Awards earlier this month. Trugoy the Dove formed a lifelong bond in high school with fellow students, Kelvin Mercer (stage name Posdnuos) and Vincent Mason (stage name Maseo) who would later become the other two members of De La Soul.
