Eddie Howe has made three changes to his Newcastle United starting XI for this evening's Premier League clash against Bournemouth.
Howe has handed a first league start to 17-year-old Lewis Miley in place of the suspended Bruno Guimaraes. Meanwhile, Tino Livramento drops to the bench with Miguel Almiron recalled. Anthony Gordon leads the line in place of the injured Callum Wilson.
Wilson started the 2-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday evening but was brought off at half-time because of hamstring tightness. He has been called up to Gareth Southgate's England squad for Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia next weekend but is now a major doubt.
Pope has kept seven clean sheets in his last nine domestic matches.
Including Wilson and Guimaraes, Howe is without 11 senior players for his return to the South Coast.
Alexander Isak, Harvey Barnes, Jacob Murphy, Dan Burn, Elliot Anderson, Sven Botman, Javier Manquillo and Matt Targett are injured, while Sandro Tonali is serving a 10-month ban from football.
Howe has called up under-21s trio Amadou Diallo, Alex Murphy and Ben Parkinson to the bench. The latter two appeared for the Magpies' first-team in pre-season.
Here's Newcastle United starting XI in full:
Stays at right-back.
Newcastle's skipper has started nine of the last 10 games in Sven Botman's continued absence.
The Swiss international has been one of the team's most consistent performers this term.
Keeps his place at left-back.
Howe turned to Longstaff to play the No.6 role at Old Trafford when Bruno Guimaraes was rested, and is likely to do so v Bournemouth.
The 17-year-old has showed a lot of maturity when called upon in pre-season and against Dortmund midweek -so why not trust him with a first Premier League start?
Willock looks like he has never been away with a string of high energy performances since returning from a five-month injury lay-off.
Almiron was used as an impact sub versus Dortmund but has been a regular starter in the Premier League this term.
Joelinton certainly provided an attacking threat from the left-hand side versus Dortmund but was wasteful in front of goal.
With Callum Wilson a doubt for the return to his former club, who else than Anthony Gordon with Alexander Isak also injured.

Manchester United have scored nine goals in three Champions League away matches, and not won any of them. That is more than Borussia Dortmund, Lazio, Inter Milan, Real Sociedad and PSV Eindhoven, all of whom have already qualified for the knockout stages, have each scored in five games in the competition this term.

The cross was delivered by Bukayo Saka, and the finishing touch was provided by Kai Havertz, but Arsenal’s winner at Brentford would never have materialised without the work of Martin Odegaard in the build-up.
