Eddie Howe has named one change to his Newcastle United starting XI for this evening’s Premier League clash against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Both Sven Botman and Joelinton were a doubt ahead of the visit to the Amex Stadium after limping out of the defeat to 10-man Liverpool last Sunday. Botman landed awkwardly on his ankle after challenging for a header, while Joelinton picked up a knee problem.

Neither player had trained prior to Eddie Howe’s pre-match press conference on Friday morning and the Magpies’ head coach revealed a late call would be made on their fitness.

Pope kept a clean sheet on his last visit to the Amex Stadium just over 12 months ago.

Joelinton has been passed fit but Botman misses out. In the Dutchman’s place, Matt Targett comes in at left-back with Dan Burn moved into the centre of defence alongside Fabian Schar.
