Newcastle and Arsenal could reportedly look to sign Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams this summer if Sam Allardyce fails to save them from relegation.

The Whites have endured a difficult season, picking up just 31 points from 36 matches so far, sitting in 18th place in the table. If they do go down, they could end up losing their best players.

Adams certainly falls into that category, so it’s no surprise to see top Premier League clubs vying for his signature.

The United States international joined Leeds from RB Leipzig for £20m at the start of the season. So far, he has made 24 Premier League appearances – but has failed to make a goal contribution.

Generally operating as a defensive midfielder, Adams’ best attributes are at breaking up opposition attacks. This term, he has made an average of 3.7 successful tackles per game, as well as 1.5 interceptions.

The 24-year-old is solid with the ball at his feet, too, with a pass success rate of 82.4%.

Adams might not be able to keep Leeds in the Premier League, but he has already proven that he has the quality to play in the division.

Newcastle, Arsenal eye Adams swoop

Now, according to journalist Dean Jonesboth Newcastle and Arsenal could consider signing Adams this summer.

Speaking to GiveMeSporthe said: “It’s extremely hard to see how Leeds keep hold of Adams if they go down.

“There will be top Premier League clubs looking at him and I think there is actually something in the Newcastle and Arsenal rumours.”

It’s no secret that Eddie Howe is looking to bring in some ‘elite’ players this summer, as looks to build a squad fit for the Champions League.

Midfield seems to be one of the areas the manager is focusing on, too. Scott McTominay has been heavily linked with a switch to St. James’ Park, for example. So, a move for Adams wouldn’t be a major surprise.

As for Arsenal, they too have been linked with plenty of midfielders recently. Ilkay Gundogan is expected to leave the Etihad this summer, despite his excellent form at the moment.

Declan Rice is considered to be Mikel Arteta’s primary target. But, there are plenty of teams interested in the West Ham star, including, ironically, Man City.

Adams could be a solid second-choice option for the Gunners. So, it will be interesting to see if they make a concrete move for him in the summer.

Jones doesn’t mention a price tag in his report, but it’s believed Leeds will consider bids in the region of £20m for Adams this summer, if they are relegated.
