Why you should never wash your face in the shower
Whether you’re a skincare buff or more along the basic routine lines, most of us feel like we’ve got our skincare routine down pat. With YouTube videos highlighting extensive skincare routines, there is information in abundance of how to properly perform once-simple task.
One Korean beauty retailer and esthetician says that despite the various ways and products that cleanse your skin, there is one absolute don’t that most people are guilty of.

If you consider washing your face in the shower while you shave your legs as killing two birds with one stone, then you aren’t alone. But Charlotte Cho, a New York City-based esthetician and founder of Soko Glam, says people need to stop washing their faces in the shower.
“Hot water coming straight onto your face from the shower head can strip away your natural oils and leave your skin barrier weak, vulnerable and cracked,” she told BuzzFeed. “To avoid putting your face directly into piping hot water straight from the shower head, try cleansing your skin at the sink with lukewarm water.”

One contributor to Soko Glam’s editorial site admits she actually double cleanses and moisturizes her face before hitting the shower. The moisturizer helps prevent the deterioration of the skin barrier, making your time in the shower less destructive to the health of your skin.
Cho insisted it’s perfectly OK to wash either before or after the shower so long as you aren’t using the hot water directly from the shower head to get your morning cleanse in. While the products and methods you employ can vary, the greatest contributor to healthy skin comes down to touch. If you treat your skin gently, you will be subject to a healthy and happy glow year round.
