Often, a foreign language series lands on Netflix and blows everything else out of the water. First came Dark, then dropped Squid Games; and now its 1899 that everyone on our timelines can't stop talking about.

The show actually flips between various different languages, with the official synopsis explaining, "When mysterious events change the course of an immigrant ship headed for New York in 1899, a mind-bending riddle unfolds for its bewildered passengers."

Already it's jumped into the Top 10 Most-Watched on Netflix, and has fans looking ahead to whether there'll be another series. Here's what we know about a potential 1899 season two.

Has 1899 season 2 been confirmed?

Currently, no, but the show did only drop on Netflix on 17th November. The good news is creators Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar are keen, and spoke to Deadline in 2021 about their hopes for more, explaining that it "depends on the viewers" as to whether they get a multi-season deal.

What is 1899 season 2's expected release date?

As the show hasn't been confirmed, it's hard to know for sure. But looking at season one's timline, we probably shouldn't expect any more episodes until late 2024, earliest. That's becuse season one took six months to film, from May 2021 to November 2021, and wasn't released until November 2022.

So say production started in early 2023 for six months, that would mean a mid-2024 release date for 1899 season two.
