Netflix releases first trailer for 'A Christmas Prince' royal-wedding-themed sequel

Netflix has started teasing out the upcoming sequel to its acclaimed romantic comedy A Christmas Prince.

The site released the first trailer for A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding on Thursday.

Journalist-turned-blogger Amber Moore returns for this second instalment, which begins 349 days after she agreed to marry Prince Richard, the heir to the crown of the foreign nation of Aldovia.

Amber originally featured in A Christmas Prince as a magazine writer sent to Aldovia to investigate rumours that Richard is planning to abdicate.

A Christmas Prince ended after the journalist quit her magazine job, started her own blog, and became engaged to Richard.

The new chapter of her adventures, set to premiere on 30 November, sees Amber preparing for her new life as a royal and planning her wedding.

A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding comes six months after Meghan Markle tied the knot with Prince Harry, and seven years after Kate Middleton married Harry's older brother William.

As Amber gets ready to become Queen of Aldovia, she experiences some "royal pains" and struggles to see how some aspects of her life and her personality – such as her activities as a blogger – will fit within her new life.

A Christmas Prince was a somewhat unexpected success for Netflix.

The romantic comedy, which has all the hallmarks of its genre, became a viral hit following its release in November last year.

Netflix itself poked fun at the film's most dedicate viewers in a tweet reading: "To the 53 people who've watched A Christmas Prince every day for the past 18 days: Who hurt you?"
