Netflix has announced a 2021 price increase, meaning your subscription to the streaming service is about to get more expensive.

What with Bridgerton, new Cobra Kai and the whole back catalogue of Friends on hand 24/7, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say we're relying on Netflix a lot right now.

If you're in the same boat, you should know the streaming service is raising the price of its standard monthly package from £8.99 to £9.99, while its premium package has gone from £11.99 to £13.99.

The basic Netflix plan, which allows users to stream on one device at a time in standard definition, will remain at £5.99.

Explaining the price increase, Netflix said in a statement (via BBC News):

"This year we're spending over $1bn [approx £736m] in the UK on new, locally-made films, series and documentaries, helping to create thousands of jobs and showcasing British storytelling at its best – with everything from The Crown, to Sex Education and Top Boy, plus many, many more.

"Our price change reflects the significant investments we've made in new TV shows and films, as well as improvements to our product."

So there you go. Anyone else going back to binge-watching now? Same.
