Netflix just dropped the trailer for 'Selena' starring Christian Serratos

Netflix has finally released the trailer for its upcoming biographical series, Selena: The Series which tells the story of Selena Quintanilla, the most successful female Latin artist of all time who was tragically shot and killed at the age of 23.The long-awaited biopic starsThe Walking Dead's Christian Serratos and follows the late singer's career, from her modest Texas childhood to becoming the most successful female Latin artist of all time.

The long-awaited project has been in the in the pipeline for some time, after being announced about two years ago. Finally, after much waiting we not only have a trailer but we also have a release date, and it's soon.

Here's everything we know about Netflix's Selena: The Series.

What is Selena about?

Netflix's official description of the series reads, "Before she became the Queen of Tejano Music, Selena Quintanilla was a young girl from Texas with big dreams and an even bigger voice. The two-part coming-of-age drama Selena: The Series explores the once-in-a-generation performer’s journey as a young artist, from singing small gigs in Corpus Christi with her family to becoming one of the most successful Latin artists of all time — and the years of grit and sacrifice the Quintanilla family navigated together before Selena’s meteoric rise to fame."

Who has been cast in Selena?

As we know, The Walking Dead's Christian Serratos has been cast t0 play the lead role of Selena. Serratos rose to fame playing Rosita Espinosa on the hit series, which is due to air its final season next year.

Alongside Serratos Ricardo Chavira (Desperate Housewives' Carlos) stars as Selena's father Abraham Quintanilla. The series also stars Noemi Gonzalez, Jesse Posey and Seidy Lopez.

Do we have a trailer for Selena?

Netflix just dropped the trailer for the long-awaited series, and it looks great. The trailer starts with Selena walking on stage to screaming, adoring fans as a voice says, "you can make this happen. Now or never."

The next scene introduces us to young Selena (played by Madison Taylor Baez), as her dad overhears her singing in the garden of their Texan home. All in, the trailer looks great, and possibly a bit of a tearjerker.

When is Selena going to be released?

Part one of Selena: The Series will air on Netflix on 4th December. Although we don't yet have an air date for the second part of the series, we do know it'll be this year.
