Netflix’s The Chair: Release date, cast and everything you need to know

Netflix have just released the trailer for their brand new comedy series, The Chair, and it's safe to say, we're already obsessed. Starring none other than Killing Eve and Grey's Anatomy's Sandra Oh, the upcoming miniseries sees Oh takes a history-making position chairing the English department at a prestigious school, but all is not as dreamy as it seems once she starts. Here's everything we know so far about The Chair...

What is The Chair about?

The official Netflix synopsis says: 'The Chair follows Dr. Ji-Yoon Kim (Sandra Oh) as she navigates her new role as the Chair of the English department at prestigious Pembroke University.'

'Ji-Yoon is faced with a unique set of challenges as the first woman to chair the department, and as one of the few staff members of colour at the university.'

Who is starring in The Chair?

The all-star cast includes Holland Taylor (Two and a Half Men), Bob Balaban (The Politician), Nana Mensah (13 Reasons Why) and David Morse (Escape at Dannemora), as well as Amanda Peet (Dirty John), who will serve as writer, showrunner and join Oh as one of the executive producers on the Netflix series, along with former Game of Thrones bosses DB Weiss and David Benioff.

Is there a trailer for The Chair?

Yes, an official Netflix trailer was released this week and we already can't wait to watch this.

When is The Chair being released?

The miniseries will arrive on Netflix on 20th August, so not too long to wait!

As for Oh, you can catch her lending her voice to Pixar film Turning Red next March, before reuniting with Jodie Comer for the fourth and final series of Killing Eve; set to be released sometime in 2022.
