Netflix is adapting acclaimed novel Partner Track starring Arden Cho

Netflix is adapting Helen Wan's novel Partner Track into a legal drama starring Arden Cho.

The series - following an idealistic, Asian American female lawyer fighting for acceptance an elitist, male-dominated law firm in New York - will be created by Georgia Lee and Sarah Goldfinger, with Bridgerton's Julie Anne Robinson directing the first two episodes.

"We are so deeply excited to bring this story of an Asian American woman trying to break the glass ceiling at an elite law firm to life," Lee said in a statement.

Jinny Howe, Vice President of original series for Netflix added: "We're proud of the incredible team assembled to bring to life Partner Track, an empowering story told through the eyes of our Asian-American lead character Ingrid Yun, played by the talented Arden Cho. Full of fun and romance, this is a contemporary and insightful look at the added pressures for women and those of underrepresented backgrounds in the workplace today."

Here's everything else we know about the drama so far...

The plot

Chicago Med's Arden Cho plays Ingrid Yun, "an idealistic young lawyer, [who] struggles with her moral compass and her passions as she fights to climb the partner track at an elite New York City law firm. Ingrid is idealistic, whip-smart, fierce, kind and eager to be the first Asian American junior partner at Parsons Valentine, an elite white-shoe law firm in Manhattan. As Ingrid bargains and fights her way through these male power structures, she wrestles with what it means to be true to herself."

The novel's synopsis adds: "Ingrid has perfected the art of passing and seamlessly blends into the old-boy corporate culture. She gamely banters in the corporate cafeteria, plays in the firm softball league, and earnestly racks up her billable hours. But when an offensive incident at the summer outing threatens the firm's reputation, Ingrid's outsider status is suddenly thrown into sharp relief."

The cast

Arden Cho will play protagonist Ingrid Yun. Supporting cast members include Bradley Gibson, Alexandra Turshen (Ray Donovan), Dominic Sherwood (Penny Dreadful: The City of Angels), Rob Heaps (Imposters), Nolan Gerard Funk (Flight Attendant) and Matthew Rauch.

The release date

Filming has yet to commence on the production, so we'll probably have to wait until 2022 until the series launches on Netflix. We'll keep you updated.

The Hollywood Reporter says that series will commit to 10 episodes, which will be filmed in New York soon.
