Neighbours airs four surprise returns in comeback episode
Neighbours bosses have announced a few surprises up their sleeves for the show's comeback episode, including reintroducing four characters who hadn't been announced ahead of the release day.
Imogen Willis, Daniel Robinson, Angie Rebecchi and Callum Rebecchi all made cameos as the Australian soap's revival season began.
Monday's episode (September 18) saw the residents of Ramsay Street gather for a wedding.
Imogen and Daniel featured early in the episode, providing some early clues over who'd be tying the knot.
Angie and Callum were later seen at the end of the episode following the bombshell revelation that Toadie Rebecchi is marrying Terese Willis.
Although all four returning characters aren't part of the regular cast, viewers can look forward to seeing more of them this week as the wedding storyline continues.
Their names were kept out of pre-publicity to avoid spoilers over the wedding twist.
Ariel Kaplan was a Neighbours regular in the role of Imogen – Terese's daughter – between 2013 and 2016. She returned for a guest stint in 2019.
Tim Phillipps played the role of Paul Robinson's nephew Daniel for a regular stint between 2014 and 2016.
Meanwhile, Lesley Baker and Morgan Baker have been seen on screen in Neighbours more recently, as they previously reprised their roles as Angie and Callum in the July 2022 finale episode.
Explaining the wedding twist, Neighbours' executive producer Jason Herbison recently commented: "I looked at the cast and the characters and it really occurred to me that we had two characters who have been on the show for a very long time that the audience are very invested in, but they've never actually looked twice at each other, and wouldn't it be incredible if those two people had found unexpected love?
"So, we do begin the show with a wedding. We all love a wedding. The show began in 1985 with a wedding and it ended in 2022 with a wedding, so it felt really fitting that we'd come back with a wedding."
Neighbours releases new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. In Australia, the show airs from Mondays to Thursdays at 4.30pm on Channel 10, with a 6.30pm repeat screening on 10 Peach.
