We think it's safe to say we're a nation of crisp lovers – and whether your preference is plain or pickled onion, a top 20 list announcing the UK's favourite is bound to be divisive.

In second place came beef flavoured Monster Munch (also made by Walkers), with 34 percent, followed closely by Walkers Salt and Vinegar (31 percent).

Other Walkers flavours to make the final top twenty were Ready Salted, which came in fifth place with 27 percent of the vote – and Prawn Cocktail in 16th place.

"It’s great to see that while more modern snacks such as Pringles and Doritos are popular, we clearly still love many of our childhood favourites."

Meanwhile, Morrisons has announced that it is launching the UK's official best Christmas crisps this week. Morrisons Aberdeen Angus Steak and Truffle crisps were voted Britain’s best at the annual Quality Food Awards.

The steak and truffle crisps, which are part of the supermarket's The Best range, cost £1 a bag and will be in stores until Christmas.
