But his co-star Natalie Portman, who's back to play Dr. Jane Foster in the movie, is now concerned she'll be dwarfed by his giant stature.
Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel, she remarked upon his clearly quite serious fitness regimen, which apparently involves him being predominantly topless.
“He's looking good,” Portman said. “It's a lot of pressure. I'm gonna look like his little grandma next to him.”
Even without the additional bulk, Hemsworth is a solid foot taller than Portman, standing at six-foot, three-inches to Portman's five-foot, three-inches.
Though we don't have confirmed details of the plot of Taika Waititi's latest chapter in the Thor series, we know it's based in some measure on The Mighty Thor comic book series.

In it, Foster is working as a superhero, under the nom-de-plume The Mighty Thor, but is then diagnosed with breast cancer.
She told Yahoo in the US in October: “I can’t tell you that much. I’m really excited. I’m starting to train, to get muscles. If there can be all these female superheroes, the more of them they are, the better it is.
“I’m trying to think — it’s based on the graphic novel of the Mighty Thor. She’s going through cancer treatment and is a superhero on the side.”
Marvel boss Kevin Feige also revealed in an interview with CNN last year that Waititi was reading the Mighty Thor comics while making Thor: Ragnarok.
It's also thought that Waititi could be bringing another character back to the Thor universe, though one with a problematic recent history.
He posted a snap to Instagram with Idris Elba, and while he didn't confirm that Elba was back on board, his physical proximity to Love and Thunder's pre-production has been duly noted.
The only problem being, of course, that his character, the all-knowing, all-seeing deity Heimdal, was slain in Avengers: Infinity War by Thanos.
Here's hoping Waititi has found a way to bring the guardian of the Bifrost back.
Thor: Love and Thunder is set to land on 18 February, 2022.
