Naomi Campbell has spoken candidly about what she’s had to sacrifice in order to pursue a career as a supermodel.
When the 51-year-old was asked what she had given up in order to achieve her career success, she explained that her love life has been the hardest hit.
“I’d say the sacrifice is really finding that soul mate who will understand you,” she told The Cut.
“It’s really like you feel they look at you as if you’re strong… you know, I’m strong, but I’m also sensitive. I know that in relationships I have to compromise.”
She added: “I don’t have a problem looking at myself in the mirror anymore and facing and owning who I am. And for sure when I was younger, I wasn’t always using it in the right way. It takes growth.”
Campbell welcomed her first child earlier this year after previously explaining that she would have children no matter what her relationship status. She told The Evening Standard just a few years ago that she was grateful for the advances in science which have made it possible for women to have children later in life.
"I think about having children all the time," she said. "But now with the way science is I think I can do it when I want."
When announcing that she'd welcomed her first child, Campbell wrote: “A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother. So honoured to have this gentle soul in my life. There are no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you my angel.
“There is no greater love.”
