DEBATES are raging on over the introduction of a 20 miles per hour speed limit on many streets just over the border in Wales.
But in Herefordshire, locals have been left mystified after a 10 miles per hour speed limit sign appeared.
A meeting of Much Cowarne Group Parish Council heard that the rogue sign had appeared in Gravel Pits Lane, the most recent minutes reveal.
But, while many have been advocating for reduced speed limits in England as well as Wales, the origin of the 10 miles per hour sign was a mystery, the minutes revealed, with councillors questioning its legal status, why it had been installed, and on whose authority.
Further signage problems were also discussed at the meeting, held at Burley Gate Village Hall in July, with the minutes revealing a Much Cowarne sign had been "pinched again", while debris and rubbish had not been cleared away after a damaged sign was repaired.
Redundant road works signs had also been left in the verges, the meeting heard.
