It appears as though some moviegoers have been making themselves a little too comfortable.

As the BBC reports, a New Zealand movie theater has issued a dress code banning pajamas, onesies, bathrobes, and muddy boots after management noticed that certain customers were letting their style standards slip.

Hawera Cinema, located in Hawera on New Zealand’s North Island, announced the ban on its Facebook page in a post that has since gone viral.

“Like many other businesses and people in town we have noticed an increasing trend of people thinking PJs/onesies and dressing gowns [bathrobes] are appropriate to wear in public,” a representative for the movie theater explained to a customer who questioned why it mattered what others wear. “It is not the vibe or environment we want to encourage here at Hawera Cinemas.”

Though most comments have been supportive — and expressing surprise that people would need to be reminded to change out of their sleepwear for a movie — some have accused the cinema of playing “fashion police.”

But management is not backing down. Manager Kirsty Bourke told the BBC that “if customers turn up in their pajamas, we will refuse entry.

“We believe we will lose more customers by not adopting a dress code,” she added. “Restaurants and clubs have always had dress codes, so why not cinemas?”

Supermarkets might also join that list. In England, there have been calls for major supermarkets to officially ban shoppers from wearing pajamas in stores.
