Let’s be honest, getting away is as much about the rest and relaxation as it is for gathering fresh content for the ‘gram. And the pandemic doesn’t seem to have slowed the flow of new hotels. From New York to Norway and Ibiza to Iceland, here is our pick of this year’s hotspots.

The Maybourne Riviera, Côte d’Azur

The group behind London’s most beloved hotels — Claridge’s, The Connaught and The Berkeley — quietly launched its latest project overlooking the picturesque village of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin late last year to rapturous reviews. Carved into the rock and designed by French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, the effect is staggering. There are 69 rooms and suites in the modernist hotel, which is filled with over 1,000 artworks. Along with a spa, botanical garden and an indoor and outdoor pool, it’s the views and food which will draw discernible South of Francers to this lesser known stretch of the Riviera. Led by world-renowned chefs Mauro Colagreco, Jean-Georges Vongerichten and sushi chef Hiro Sato, a new foodie destination has been born.

Cali Mykonos

Contrary to what you see all over your feed each summer, there’s more to Mykonos than Scorpios. Nestled in a calm corner of the eastern edge of the island overlooking Kalafati Beach will be super-luxe boutique hotel Cali Mykonos. The 40 exquisite villas will have a private pool and pinch-me views of the Aegean. Make the difficult choice of taking a dip in the 110-metre sea salt infinity pool (shaped, rather relaxingly, like a river tributary) or take the extra few steps to the private beach.

Aman New York

Luxury hotel group Aman’s latest launch will be home to one of the most spectacular rooftop pools in Manhattan. Does it get much more “I’ve made it” than panoramic views of Central Park as you float high above the chaos of Fifth Avenue? The three-storey spa promises to be world-class and with three restaurants — Nama for sushi, Arva for Italian and The Bar for elevated small bites — expect excellent Upper East Sider people-watching.
