Picking a baby name is a big decision, with a whole host of influencing factors. Some parents-to-be are keen on keeping things traditional, while some want to go with the baby name trends of the time. Others have a preference for an old-fashioned name, while some people want to opt for an unusual or perhaps a gender-neutral one.

But have you ever thought about what's popular in the area you live? Whether you're interested in the most commonly-selected baby names because you like to follow the crowd, or because you want something unique and need to know what to steer clear of, it's interesting to take a look at the regional differences across England and Wales. Luckily, the Office of National Statistics captures this data, and has broken down the top 10 most popular baby names from 2018 (the most recent data there is) in England's North East, North West, Yorkshire and The Humber, East Midlands, West Midlands, East, London, South East, South West, and in Wales.
