After a record-breaking reign of 70 years, Queen Elizabeth passed away at the age of 96 in September. That, coupled with the once-in-a-lifetime Platinum Jubilee celebrations just months earlier to mark her historic reign, her late majesty garnered 4.3 million Google searches per month.

The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star is the most Googled male celebrity of the year, undoubtedly due to this much publicised court battle with ex-wife Amber Heard. He successfully sued his ex-wife for defamation over a 2018 opinion piece for The Washington Post in which she wrote about being a victim of domestic violence with a court in Virginia awarding him a $10.35 million and the whole debacle meant his name was searched on Google 5.5 million times per month.

Just narrowly sneaking into the top spot for the most Googled celebrity of 2022 is none other than Amber Heard. The 'Aquaman' actress was searched a total of 5.6 million times per month, just narrowly beating her ex-husband amid their court battle.
