This Morning's James Martin reveals unusual way he celebrated 48th birthday in lockdown

James Martin is among the many stars who has been forced to celebrate his 48th birthday in lockdown.

However, fortunately for the celebrity chef, the birthday boy revealed he was busy preparing to open his restaurants after they remained closed for three months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Taking to his Twitter page on Tuesday evening, James thanked his followers for their well wishes. "Thank you for all the birthday messages... spent it cleaning and painting the restaurant ready for reopening. Can't wait to get back in the kitchen... cheers!"

Upon seeing his post, the This Morning star was once again inundated with messages – with one writing: "James you're a workaholic! Hope you get to chill this evening with a stiff G&T and a nice cigar." Another remarked: "Happy Birthday! Hope you have time to celebrate properly now."

Over the past month, James has been hard at work getting his restaurant ready for the grand reopening later this week. He recently confessed there were "long hard days and months" as he confirmed restrictions will be put in place.

"Meringues in... setting up for two more cooks on @thismorning today," he wrote in the caption, adding: "Then off to work to get the restaurant ready for opening, long hard days and months ahead but the best job in the world."

Although James is yet to confirm which restaurant he plans to open, the TV star is owner of James Martin Manchester, The Kitchen at Chewton Glen in Hampshire and café chain James Martin Kitchen, which has various locations across the UK.

Meanwhile, last week, the TV star confirmed he was back in the great outdoors filming new episodes for James Martin's Saturday Morning on ITV. Despite filming cooking segments for This Morning and the opening introductions for his weekend series from home, James has been forced to show repeat runs of his programme on Saturday mornings.
