This Morning star Alison Hammond has shared the heartbreaking news that her father has tragically passed away.
The much-loved presenter posted a photograph of her dad Clifford Hammond on her Instagram account today (10 June), and revealed that attending his funeral sadly would not be possible.
"This is my real Dad Clifford Hammond who passed away last week in Jamaica," she wrote. "I’m saddened that I won’t be able to make his funeral and saddened that he wasn’t part of my life as much as I would have liked but I still have a sense of loss and emptiness. Sleep well Daddy, love leaves a memory no [one] can steal. RIP."
Stars including This Morning co-hosts Holly Willoughby and Eamonn Holmes, fellow Celebs Go Dating alumni Jack Fincham and matchmakers Anna Williamson and Paul Carrick Brunson all sent Alison their love in the comments.
It was only back in February that Alison shared that her mother had passed away from liver and lung cancer.
She said that her mum was her best friend, and that she would have loved the service, which she described as "beautiful".
Last week, Alison responded to the killing of George Floyd at the hands of police with a powerful speech, stating that institutional racism has been "going on forever" and that she hopes some lasting differences can be made.
She said: "When I see my white [and] my Asian brothers and sisters standing by Black Lives Matter, it means they understand. They can't understand fully, but they understand what we are going through."
