Gethin Jones is making waves with a major career change, stepping away from his familiar BBC presenting duties to embrace the world of panto! The beloved Cardiff-born presenter, who has been a staple on BBC Morning Live since 2020 and first captured hearts on Blue Peter, is set to dazzle audiences as Prince Charming in the upcoming festive production of Cinderella. The show kicks off on December 7, 2024, at Cardiff's New Theatre and will enchant crowds until January 5, 2025.

Joining Gethin on stage will be Denquar Chupak as Cinderella, BBC Radio 2's Owain Wyn Evans as Dandini, Mike Doyle taking on the role of the Baroness, Stephanie Webber as the Fairy Godmother, and Jack Ryan playing Buttons. Taking to Instagram, Gethin shared a sneak peek behind the scenes, posting snaps with his "LOVELY (extremely talented) bunch" of co-stars.

His caption read: "Popped down to the Diff to do some press with this LOVELY (extremely talented) bunch! Laughed all day.. bodes well for Christmas! See you @newtheatrecdf hopefully! ".

Fans and celebs alike were buzzing with excitement over Gethin's new gig, with comments flooding in showing support and anticipation for the panto season. One fan eagerly wrote: "Christmas can't come fast enough", while another is considering a special trip: "Might have to do a trip to see this!".

Strictly's very own Dr Punam Krishan couldn't contain her excitement, commenting: "Check you out! Love the whole look. We can't wait to come see you xxx", while TV host Sarah Stirk expressed her adoration with a hearts-for-eyes emoji. The One Show's Alex Jones chimed in with a chuckle, posting: "Hilar! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !", and a laughing emoji to boot.

All this fanfare follows Gethin's heartfelt farewell to a Morning Live colleague earlier in the year. In July, he took to Instagram to share an emotional "Emotional goodbye (for now)," alongside a picture with Welsh TV personality Adam Russell.

Adam, a researcher for the BBC One programme, reciprocated with a snapshot featuring presenter Helen Skelton, captioning it: "And this one," accompanied by a tearful emoji. Gethin added his own tribute, saying: "Will miss this man on the BBC Morning Live team. Supremely talented, attention to detail is insane, with the calmness required to make live telly. Oh and studying for a degree at the same time."
