During an interview on The View, actress and comedian Mo’Nique discussed her claims of pay disparity with Netflix. The Academy Award winner said that Netflix offered her $500,000 for a comedy special, compared to Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle, who each received $20 million, and Amy Schumer, who received $13 million.
Mo’Nique said that she didn’t begrudge paychecks of the other comedy legends but added, “When the vice president of Netflix says to my husband and our attorney, ‘By the way, Mo’Nique is a legend, too,’ well, if I’m a legend, why wouldn’t I get what the legends are getting?”
Wanda Sykes came to the defense of Mo’Nique, saying that she was offered $250,000.
Netflix told ABC that it did not comment on negotiations with its talent.
