Fashion has many sources of inspiration and although the sea is a common recurring theme, when you hear a collection is inspired by pirates and swashbuckling sirens, you know it’s going to be something special.

Last season, Henry Holland took us on an Americana adventure, inspired by a West coast road trip and today we were similarly transported on a trip – but this time to the high seas. Opening with the same song that starts the ‘Original Pirate Material’ album by The Streets, Holland literally sent models off the plank and onto the pyschedelic, wavy catwalk below.

Full of the punchy colour that Henry Holland is known for, this was another bold yet accessible collection with fun prints and a good sense of humour. References to the sea included sparkly ‘seaweed sequin sandals’ and beaded macrame tote bags, like fashionable fishing nets. A bold starfish embroidered pattern appeared on both a statement two-piece and an asymmetric tea dress.

Waves were a common theme throughout the collection with bold, geometric patterns swirling around outfits in blue, black, orange and even rainbow waves. We predict the rainbow jumper will be an INSTANT sell out. For someone known for his trademark quiff, Henry Holland loves a hat and the cowgirl stetson hats of last season were also updated with a bold ruffled tricorn (the actual term for a pirates hat) that came in blue and orange.

Accessories came in the form of geometric bandana scarves, antique-looking gold chains and fluoro sunglasses. Models not wearing sunglasses sported bold, neon lids and full, fibrous brows using The Body Shop makeup.

All in all, another fun and vibrant collection from Henry Holland which left attendees feeling happy and positive – sometimes something we forget that fashion should do for us.
