It was evident Emily would be a performer from a young age. Born in London in 1991, young Ratajkowski loved musical theater, especially ‘Cats’, and she would often put on performances for her parents. Modelling jobs
By the age of 14, modelling agents were taking notice of Ratajkowski and she signed with Ford Models. She landed gigs with Nordstrom and Kohl's, where she appeared in teen print catalogues. However, Ratajkowski dreamed of acting on TV and started pursuing auditions for small TV roles. - 4/11
Nickelodeon breakthrough
One of the roles Ratajkowski secured was a recurring role on Nickelodeon's teen drama ‘iCarly’ in 2009, where she played Tasha, the girlfriend of Noah Munck’s Gibby in two episodes in season three, ‘iSpeed Date’ and ‘iEnrage Gibby’. - 5/11

However, the teen grew frustrated with the audition process as she found that casting directors had a habit of pigeonholing her as a high school bully or cheerleader. She caught Robin Thicke’s eye
College didn’t last long, as Ratajkowski left after a year to pursue modelling full-time. Her modelling career began to take off when she posed for limited-edition issues of erotica magazine treats! Ratajkowski already had experience in music videos, having filmed videos for Maroon 5's ‘Love Somebody’ and Taio Cruz's ‘Fast Car’, but she was reluctant to appear in the ‘Blurred Lines’ video at first, fearing being typecast yet again, this time as a music video model. It proved a great call for Ratajkowski, as ‘Blurred Lines’ became the song of summer 2013. The lyrics and video may have been controversial, but everyone had seen her marching in platform heels, and topless in bed with Thicke - the world knew who she was.
