Miriam Margolyes hospitalised with chest infection

Miriam Margolyes is "resting" in hospital while undergoing treatment for a chest infection.

Over the weekend, the British actress took to Facebook to share that she had been admitted to The Royal Brompton Hospital in London after becoming unwell.

Miriam later revealed she was "still not quite me", and after observation, it was decided she should stay in the hospital until at least Wednesday.

"I spoke too soon. Can't come home yet: I have a chest infection. Probably tomorrow. But at least I'm resting. Love to all. Thank you for your lovely messages," the 81-year-old wrote alongside a snap of her sitting in a hospital bed.

Earlier, the Harry Potter star offered her heartfelt thanks to her "beloved chums" as well as the "very fine doctors and nurses" for their support amid her health scare.

She also noted that she plans to be well enough to travel to Italy and Australia before beginning her 22-stop book tour on 7 September.
