Miranda Kerr says women 'need to make a little effort' when it comes to pleasing their men
Just a few months after she tied the knot to Evan Spiegel at her California home, Miranda Kerr has opened up about married life.
Her secret to a happy relationship? For Kerr, it's dressing up when her husband, who is Snapchat's CEO and co-founder, comes home from work.
"My grandma taught me that men are visual and you need to make a little effort," the model said in an interview with The Edit. "So when [Evan] comes home, I make sure to have a nice dress on and the candles lit. We make time to have a nice dinner together."
Kerr, who is CEO of her skincare company Kora Organics, added that embracing her feminine side when she's at home is all part of maintaining her work-life balance. "At work, I'm like, 'We need to do this!' and, 'This needs to happen!' But at home, I slip into my feminine and empower Evan to be in his masculine."
When asked to elaborate on this, she said: "Just be more in my feelings. More gentle, leaning back. It's a nice balance."
Spiegel proposed to the former Victoria's Secret Angel in July 2016, with Kerr announcing the news in an Instagram post complete with a custom Snapchat filter, of course. The couple had a "small, intimate wedding," in May this year at their Brentwood, California home, a source told E! News.
Kerr credits her new husband, who at 27 is one of the youngest billionaires in the world, with encouraging her to turn her attention away from modelling and focus on her skincare business.
"Evan inspired me," she told the magazine. "He said, 'Why are you spending your energy working for other companies when you should be focusing on your own? You need to take a risk. If you believe in this, put everything into it.'"
Before Spiegel, Kerr was married to Orlando Bloom, who she has a six-year-old son with. Referring to their split, she said: "It was the right thing to do; we weren't bringing out the best in each other. There's no hostility there, we'll always be friends."
