Since arriving on the scene back in 2016 as Eleven in Netflix's Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown has made a name for herself as a force to be reckoned with. In addition to her award-winning acting career, recent venture into producing and becoming UNICEF’s youngest Goodwill Ambassador, the 17-year-old is also one of the biggest Gen-Z style stars to know.
How has your style has changed over the last few years?
Style is constantly evolving, and my personal style is no exception. That’s the beauty of fashion. Since I was a young girl, my style has ranged from boho chic to glamorous sparkles to comfy sweats and back again.
What’s your all-time favourite red-carpet outfit that you’ve worn and why?
It’s hard to pin down just one moment, as so many have their own special meaning to me. If I had to choose, I guess I would say the Calvin Klein By Appointment look I wore to my first Emmys as a nominee in 2017. It was so special and everything I hoped for and envisioned for that experience.
Looking back, are there any outfits you regret now?
I try not to live my life in regret. There might have been an interesting aeroplane look or two over the years… but comfort is always key!
Who is your favourite fashion icon and why?
I don’t know that I have a favourite – I will always reference Audrey Hepburn as someone who just exudes elegance and style. That being said, I also think Zendaya makes really interesting fashion choices and always looks amazing!
How did the Stranger Things wardrobe influence your style?
I’m not sure it has, to be honest. Working on Stranger Things certainly opened my mind to the style and staples of the '80s, which has been a fun journey. The colours, the patterns, the volume. But I wouldn’t say that I’ve woven that into my personal style much.
What’s been the best and worst thing about filming Stranger Things season 4 and why?
We were definitely saddened to have to wait to start shooting season 4, but at the same time, completely appreciated that it was necessary in order to ensure everyone’s safety because of the pandemic. I feel lucky that we were able to go back to work when we did. The best thing about shooting this season is having the opportunity to return to this character I love so much. This is going to be a really exciting season for Eleven!
What's the personal meaning behind the compass charm in your new Pandora Me collection?
I love the ‘My Compass’ charm and what it represents. The meaning behind this design is that you can wear it as a daily reminder to follow your heart wherever it leads, even if it takes you down a road less travelled. The collection itself is all about being able to express yourself through the charms, and I really like that you can wear them every day as a reflection of you.
One of the other charms is of a lucky four-leaf clover, can you tell us about a time when you experienced a ‘pinch me’ moment?
My ‘good luck’ charm. Working with Pandora as their Ambassador for Pandora Me has certainly been a 'pinch me' moment in my career. From a young age, I’ve been a big fan of Pandora, so it’s been a dream come true to continue working with a brand that’s all about self-expression and has something for everyone out there. Another ‘pinch me’ moment was becoming UNICEF’s youngest Goodwill Ambassador – it’s a huge honour, and I have so much respect and admiration for the work that UNICEF does.
