Mike Tyson may only be 56, but the former heavyweight champion believes the end is coming ‘really soon.’

Speaking on his podcast, ‘Hitboxin’ with Mike Tyson,’ he revealed that he told his trauma and addiction therapist that he feels his time is almost up, and that there are some tell-tale signs to prove it. “We’re all gonna die one day, of course,” he said. “Then, when I look in the mirror, I see those little spots on my face, I say ‘Wow. That means my expiration date is coming close, really soon.’”

In clearly a reminiscing mood, Iron Mike also went on to talk about how money doesn’t buy happiness or keep you healthy and how cash in the bank can lead to a false sense of security.

“I always tell people – they think money’s gonna make them happy, they’ve never had money before – when you have a lot of money, you can’t expect nobody to love you… You believe that you’re invincible when you have a lot of money, which isn’t true.

“When you put money in your bank and you get a cheque every week and you can live for the rest of your life, is that security? It doesn’t mean you won’t catch a disease, or get hit by a car.”

Mike Tyson has had a colourful career and life to date. In 1985, at the age of 18, he made his debut pro fight and went on to become the first heavyweight boxer to simultaneously hold the WBA, WBC and IBF titles.

Outside of the ring life was just as manic, serving three years in jail for rape in 1991 before declaring bankruptcy over a decade later in 2003 despite earning millions. He’s also been convicted for numerous drugs related charges.

Whatever your opinions are on the former world champ turned actor turned stand-up turned film director, there’s no denying that when his day does finally come, he will always be remembered as one of the world’s greatest ever boxers.
