Michelle Williams has confirmed the happy news that she is pregnant with her third child.

The actress and her director husband Thomas Kail have revealed that they are expecting their second baby together this autumn, following the birth of their son, Hart, in 2020.

"It's totally joyous," Williams told Variety while confirming her pregnancy. "As the years go on, you sort of wonder what they might hold for you or not hold for you.

"It's exciting to discover that something you want again and again, is available one more time. That good fortune is not lost on me or my family."

Williams also has a teenage daughter named Matilda, whose father is the late The Dark Knight actor Heath Ledger.

Williams and Kail, who is known for directing stage musicals Hamilton and In the Heights, do not speak about their private lives often, but Williams did open up to Variety about what it was like to welcome their son into the world during the heights of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"It was a reminder that life goes on," she said. "The world we brought a baby into is not the world we thought we were bringing a baby into, but the baby is ignorant of that. He experiences the unmitigated joy of discovery and the happiness of a loving home."
