Michelle Obama has added new dates to her book tour, including one at London's O2 Arena on 14 April. Tickets go on sale on Friday, 14 December at 1pm local time at Live Nation.

The former First Lady spoke at a public event with Chimanda Ngozi Adichie in early December to promote her best-selling memoir, Becoming. Tickets sold out in minutes, with some being resold on Viagogo for as much as £70,000.

There will be a lot more scope for fans to buy a ticket for Obama's latest London date - the O2 Arena has a capacity of 20,000 compared to the Royal Festival Hall's 2,000, which was where the initial event was hosted. The talk will feature to-be-announced moderator who will appear in conversation with Obama.

The 21 new dates will see Obama stop in previously unvisited cities in the US, Canada and Europe, including Copenhagen and Amsterdam. She will also return to Paris, after having to cancel a scheduled event to attend the funeral of the late president George HW Bush.

"I couldn't be more excited to visit even more cities across the country and around the world," Obama said. "I've been so humbled by the response to the tour thus far and the overwhelming interest we’ve received from so many communities we weren’t able to visit this year.

"That’s why I’m thrilled that we’re able to expand our conversations to these new settings and wider audiences," she added. "I can’t wait to continue the discussions that have been so meaningful for me and, I hope, for so many others.”
