New Mexico Gas Station Store Ransacked in Violent Rampage

A gas station convenience store was ransacked, and a store clerk and customer attacked, in a violent rampage caught on camera in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on May 11.

Footage released by the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office shows a man entering Chucky’s Convenience Store and immediately acting in an aggressive manner towards a woman behind the counter. He throws several objects at her, causing her to flee. Left alone, the man spends minutes smashing up the store and merchandise.

Exterior CCTV footage then shows the man approach a car at a gas pump, throw a dog out of the vehicle and attack its driver. Four men then intervene and chase the attacker off.

The sheriff’s office told local news the suspect was identified as 43-year-old Elee Garcia Silva. He was charged with criminal damage to property, aggravated battery, simple battery, and cruelty to animals.

At a press conference, Dona Ana County Sheriff Kim Stewart said Silva may have been experiencing mental problems.

The manager of the store, Delilah Morales, told KTSM the damage caused could amount to more than $20,000. Credit: Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office via Storyful
