The Met Gala 2022 Men Who Actually Pulled Out All The Stops This Year

The Met Gala 2022 is finally over and the glamour has well and truly been gilded.

On Monday, May 2 the best in fashion took to New York's Metropolitan Museum's red carpet to celebrate this year's theme, In America: An Anthology of Fashion', and made a nod to the sartorial time of old school NYC, whether it was with Blake Lively's changing colour Atelier Versace gown, Billie Eilish's upcycled Gucci corset or Nicola Coughlan's feathered Richard Quinn number.

While the night is usually a sombre affair for male attendees, which many notoriously opting for simple black tuxedos over Jared Leto-esque fake head accessories, several of this year's guests pushed the envelope when it came to their looks, sporting everything from shirtless ensembles to hot pink pops of colour.

Here's our list of the best dressed men at this year's Met Gala:

Essiedu provided a modern twist on the classical black tuxedo, opting to wear a pair of black sunglasses, stacks of jewellery and an oversized velvet tuxedo without a shirt from the genderless label Veert.

The rapper brought a pop of colour to the evening in an electric blue three piece suit - with a cape, of course - by Kenzo.

Elvis star Butler wore a relaxed stain lapelled shirt and black slacks for his appearance with girlfriend Kaia Gerber at the Gala.

The New York mayor made a political statement at the Met Gala alongside his partner Tracey Collins dressed in a tuxedo emblazoned with the message 'End Gun Violence' on the back of his jacket.

The rapper wore a black Boss short tuxedo, comprising of black brogues, black socks, a black satin shirt and a black embelished facce mask.

Barker wore a Thom Browne pleated skirt atop his tuxedo trousers for the night, styled with a white dinner shirt and jacket. His wife-to-be also wore a deconstructed version of his skirt.

Stan brought the drama on the night with a hot pink oversized suit that gave the red carpet a much needed touch of neon.

Ahmed paid tribute to the immigrants of the Gilded Age on the night by wearing an outfit similar to that worn by a labourer, including a navy blue jacket from immigrant designer Angelo Urrutia, a white vest top, drawstring trousers tucked into knee-high black leather boots and a long Cartier necklace that he later revealed was inspired by India. 'This is an homage to the immigrant workers who kept the Gilded Age going,' he told reporters.

His stylist Julie Ragolia told Vanity Fair: 'In thinking about the Met Gala theme of "Gilded Glamour", I wanted to focus on the people without whom nothing Gilded would exist: the labourers, the workers, the unseen. This look is for everyone who thinks they don’t have a voice. They do.'

The rapper wore an all-white ensemble featuring a crisp white cape, and we're not worthy of such greatness.

The English actor Harris Dickinson wore Kim Jones-era Dior which included a tulle overshirt, chunky black boots and flowing trousers.

Paak wore head-to-toe floral Gucci on the night and brought some much needed 1970s-inspired flares to proceedings.

Can Mock do no wrong? The answer is yes. The star opted for a corset suit by Head of State with a big ruff around the neck, black square-toe boots and Cartier jewellery.

The Gucci creative director and brand ambassador twinned quite literally in cream and black ensembles, styled with black leather globes, a red clutch bag, a red/pink bow tie and shades. Oh, and the brown hair was oh so luscious.
