Men’s summer suits 2019: The modern man's guide to wedding guest dressing

When it comes to dressing up, men have long been able to throw on a trusty black tuxedo or grey checked suit and confidently head out of the door.

But in recent years, men's style has had a switch up, with a more modern approach to suiting. From pastel hues to new prints and a more casual mix 'n' match approach, there are plenty of new, contemporary styles to choose from in 2019.

So whether you're searching for a wedding, the races or garden party, here are the trendiest ways to suit up this summer.

Think Pastel Pink

Searches for pink suits in 2019 have shot up a staggering 3600 per cent on shopping app LIKEtoKNOW.it and it seems the blokes have been taking their cue from the red carpet. Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa hit headlines when he donned a pink velvet Fendi suit and matching hair scrunchie to the 2019 Oscars; Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman donned a dusty hued Givenchy design to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party; and rapper Asap Rocky opted for an oversized bubblegum Loewe suit at the Pre-Grammy Gala.

For the everyman, the high street now has several sweet shades to choose from. Asos Design currently stocks a very wedding-appropriate rose pink three-piece suit for £102, while Topman has a more causal textured set for £130.

Go Grid Check

A subtle plaid pattern is nothing new when it comes to suiting, but spring/summer 2019 sees a larger, more contemporary grid print pave the way.

The new check is filling up the suit section of high street favourites, including River Island which has a grey £125 design, H&M with a sharp £105 blue number and Zara's minimal black and white silhouette for £140.

Mix And Match

In 2019 men are favouring a more casual dress code, which is probably why relaxed mix and match suits are gaining popularity.

Staple black trousers mixed with a statement blazer have become one of the coolest combinations. Take your pick of blazers: do you want luxe velvet textures or loud patterns?

This is a great way to re-work your current suit collection by breathing new life into old trousers and shirts with addition of a colourful blazer, or simply purchase a ready-to-wear mix and match set from Topman.

Blue Is The New Black

A blue suit is a signature look of Prince Harry's, as well as a favourite of suiting pro Harry Styles.

If you've cash to splash, invest in a dapper three-piece suit from Remus Uomo (£225). For those on a budget, Primark has a range of blue suits for as little as £50.
