A royal expert has claimed that Princes William and Harry will eventually heal their relationship for the sake of their mother Princess Diana.

During Harry and Meghan’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this month, the Duke of Sussex revealed a rift between him and his brother.

He said the relationship is one of "space at the moment,” but reiterated his love for his brother and said “time heals all things, hopefully."

“As I’ve said before, I love William to bits,” he said. “He’s my brother. We’ve been through hell together. We have a shared experience, but we were on different paths.”

William and Harry were 15 and 12 respectively when their mother died in a car crash at just 36 in 1997.

Anna Pasternak, who wrote about Diana’s relationship with James Hewitt in her book Princess in Love, believes the memory of the Princess of Wales will help the brothers reunite.

"The greatest hope of reconciliation lies in the memory of their mother," Pasternak told Fox News.

"That is what will unite them still today. I believe they will put their differences aside for her. And I believe there is a possibility of us witnessing that at the unveiling."

The two brothers have spoken since Harry and Meghan’s tell-all interview with Winfrey, according to a friend of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

CBS News presenter Gayle King said she was told about the conversation when she called Meghan Markle and Harry following their interview.

However, King said that talks were “unproductive”.

She told CBS This Morning: “I did actually call them to see how they were feeling, and it’s true, Harry has talked to his brother and he has talked to his father too. The word I was given was that those conversations were not productive.

“And I think what is still upsetting to them is the palace keep saying they want to work it out privately, but yet, they believe these false stories are coming out that are very disparaging against Meghan, still.”
