Here’s How Melissa Wood-Tepperberg Mixes Up Her Cardio Workouts

It seems that cardio gets a mixed reputation, as many either love it or hate it. When it comes to aerobic exercises, like walking, cycling, running or swimming, we’ve all got our preferred methods for getting our hearts pumping.

Workout and wellness leader Melissa Wood-Tepperberg, it turns out, is just like the rest of us, in that she hasn’t always enjoyed cardio exercises. While the workouts she offers on her MWH platform are often low-impact movements, the 41-year-old mom of two also incorporates a good low-impact aerobic routine every once in a while—and she makes it both fun and effective.

“In full transparency, cardio isn’t necessarily my jam,” Wood-Tepperberg wrote on Instagram on Jan. 27. “I used to believe you had to do hours of cardio a week to see results (NOT anymore, thank god). When I’m in the mood to get on the treadmill (it’s rare because I walk everywhere in nyc), but when I do - low impact series combined with playing around on this thing really do it for me.”

The 2023 SI Swimsuit rookie’s accompanying reel was one of herself walking, skipping and dancing around on the treadmill, with a leg lift or two mixed in for good measure.

“Cardio - redefined with a side of leg lifts is how I roll. 💪🏼,” she concluded her caption, while urging her 1.1 million followers to subscribe to her fitness platform, which offers a series of low-impact treadmill workouts.

“I mean that’s the only way I walk on a treadmill!😂,” one fan concurred in the comments of Wood-Tepperberg’s method.

“I’ve been doing this intuitively for years 😍,” someone else shared. “I hate cardio and always try to combine it with exercises like kicking and lunging 🙌.”
