Melanie Sykes finally breaks her silence on Olly Murs romance

After over a week of speculation, Melanie Sykes has finally broken her silence on claims that she and singer Olly Murs have been enjoying a top-secret romance for over a year.

The TV presenter has previously alluded to rumours in a series of cryptic tweets, however, she has now denied the relationship once and for all in a defiant Instagram post.

Sharing a stunning photo of herself on Instagram, Melanie wrote: “To all Those writing sh*te about me and my life.

“This is what a single, happy, healthy, 47yrs old independent mother of two teenage sons looks like. DEAL WITH IT! [sic]”

The star was quickly applauded by her followers, with the post racking up thousands of likes and hundreds of comments in minutes.

The no-nonsense message comes after it was revealed that Melanie first started tweeting Olly six years ago, with the flirty messages making fans wonder whether the 47-year-old beauty had always harboured a secret crush on 33-year-old Olly.

In the messages, which began in 2012, Melanie calls Olly “gorge” and “darlin”, also sending him multiple kisses and kiss-face emojis.

The tweets resurfaced shortly after an insider had claimed that the pair were embroiled in a secret relationship, telling The Sun at the time: “They were initially introduced through a mutual friend. They started texting for ages and some of the messages ended up getting quite saucy.”

Mother-of-two Melanie previously confessed that she loves younger men, sharing: “I always go for younger men. I’m very silly and you don’t tend to meet that many 40-year-old men who want to lark around.”

Neither Melanie or Olly have previously addressed the speculation, although last week Melanie did reweet famous Mark Twain quote: “If you don’t read the newspaper, you’re uninformed. If you read the newspaper, you’re mis-informed.”
