Melania Trump's official White House portrait is incredibly glam - and incredibly airbrushed

Melania Trump’s official portrait as First Lady has just been released. The image, taken at the White House, sees Trump wearing a £1600 black blazer by Dolce & Gabbana and matching sequinned neck scarf.

The new FLOTUS poses with her arms crossed, showing off two expensive-looking rings on her fingers. The huge 25-carat diamond reportedly cost £1.2 million and was a present from Donald for the couple’s tenth wedding anniversary.

There is barely a hint of a smile on Melania’s face in the photo which was shot by Trump’s preferred photographer, Regine Mahaux.

“I am honoured to serve in the role of First Lady and look forward to working on behalf of the American people over the coming years,” she said in a statement.

Of course, criticisms have already come in droves with people ridiculing Melania for the heavy airbrushing that has clearly taken place.

Others have also pointed out a slight error in the photograph’s statement which read that the portrait was taken in Melania’s “new residence at the White House.”

Melania has in fact defied previous First Lady expectations and remained in New York with her son, Baron. She is expected to make an official move to Washington at the end of the school year.

Michelle Obama was also slammed for wearing a sleeveless dress in her official portrait with people labelling the style as “too casual” for a First Lady.

Melania’s portrait appears alongside a short bio on the White House website detailing her former modelling career and humanitarian work along with her aims while in office. These include focusing on “issues impacting women and children” and “the problem of cyber bullying among our youth.
