Despite speculation that First Lady Melania Trump and her son Barron Trump would be staying in New York City long-term, a White House official has now confirmed that they will be moving to Washington, DC to live with President Donald Trump this summer.
"That has always been the plan," an official told Us Weekly.
Around the time of the president's inauguration in January, Trump's wife and their 11-year-old son announced that they would be staying at the family's $100 million penthouse apartment in New York City's Trump Tower until Barron completed his school year.
"Melania goes back and forth, and after Barron finishes school - because it's hard to take a child out of school with a few months left - she and Barron will be moving over to the White House," the president said during a press conference in February.
However, some reports began to speculate that the pair might end up staying in NYC for longer than they'd anticipated, in order to further ensure there wouldn't be any interruptions to Barron's schooling. White House officials have since pushed back against these reports, implying that their relocation to the White House has been moving along as scheduled.
The first lady has not released a statement on the matter at this time.
