Meghan Markle's best friend Jessica Mulroney has taken to Instagram to condemn the onslaught of public bullying she has witnessed against the Duchess of Sussex.

Meghan and Harry have most recently been accused of hypocrisy after taking four private jet flights in two weeks, despite having been so vocal about protecting of the environment. Article after article was published, and even politicians have weighed in on the debate, with MP Teresa Pearce saying the series of private flights "doesn’t fit with their public image and the way they’re so concerned about the planet and the environment."

When it all reached boiling point, Sir Elton John made a statement revealing the Sussexes' second trip - to Nice in the South of France - had been at his request, after he invited Meghan, Harry and baby Archie to enjoy a relaxing holiday in the privacy of his French villa.

"To maintain a high level of much-needed protection, we provided them with a private jet flight," Elton John wrote in an Instagram post, clarifying: "To support Prince Harry’s commitment to the environment, we ensured their flight was carbon neutral, by making the appropriate contribution to Carbon Footprint™".

Despite all the facts now being publicly available, it doesn't appear as if the harsh criticism of Meghan and Harry has relented - and now Jessica Mulroney has felt compelled to step in. Posting on Instagram last night, the Canadian stylist uploaded a quote reading:

"When someone faces unfair criticism, you call it out. When that person is your friend and your family, you call those critics what they truly are. Shame on you, you racist bullies."

Jessica captioned her bold post, "3 years of underserved hate and abuse. It’s enough."

Ever since it was revealed that Meghan Markle was dating Prince Harry, she has been subject to intense commentary and invasion of privacy. Just months in to the couple's relationship, in November 2016, it got so bad that Kensington Palace made the unusual move of releasing a statement on behalf of Prince Harry urging the media to leave his then-girlfriend and her family alone.

"[Harry's] girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment," the statement read. "Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her. It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm.

"He knows commentators will say this is ‘the price she has to pay’ and that ‘this is all part of the game’. He strongly disagrees. This is not a game - it is her life and his."

With a bit of luck, the needless criticism of Meghan and Harry will stop, and we can start embracing the Sussexes for all the positive things they do.
