Meghan Markle has shared a rare throwback photograph of herself before she became a royal, to mark Remembrance Day and Veterans Day.

On Monday, the Duchess and Duke of Sussex posted a series of three images on their official Instagram account, @sussexroyal, to pay tribute to servicemen and women in the UK and the US.

One photograph features Meghan before she became a duchess, when she met with serving troops around the world in 2014. In the snap, the former Suits star can be seen posing for a photograph with Glee actress Dianna Agron, The Hangover comedian Rob Riggle and retired Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlrcher.

In the photograph, the Californian-born star wears a pair of tan-coloured boots, dark jeans, a zip-up jacket and a green cap.

Another image sees the Duchess placing a gold medal over an Invictus Games competitor during her official tour of Australia, New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji in 2018 and one of a child holding a sign that reads ‘welcome home daddy’.

The post's caption begins: "Today is Remembrance Day and also Veterans Day in the United States, a day to honour those who have bravely served in the Armed Forces. Thank you to all, for your service, sacrifice and commitment. It has been an important week to recognise those who serve (and have served) as well as to acknowledge their families.

"In 2014, The (now) Duchess of Sussex proudly went on @TheUSO tour with the Chairman of The Joint Chiefs of Staff, visiting troops in five countries: Spain, Italy, Turkey, Afghanistan and the United Kingdom. During this tour, the Duchess met with service personnel and their families and she was proud to recognise their service to the country.

"At the time, The Duchess said: 'I have always had such a profound respect for our nation’s troops and military families. I cannot thank them enough for everything they do for us'."

Over the weekend, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – aka the 'fab four' – reunited for two events to mark Remembrance Day.

On Sunday morning, the foursome were joined the rest of the royal family, including the Queen, Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall, current and previous Prime Ministers and politicians and thousands of members of the public at the Cenotaph in Whitehall to officially mark the occasion.

Prince Charles, William and Harry stood by the cenotaph - as they laid wreaths at the foot of the memorial - while the Queen, Duchess of Cornwall, Kate Middleton (who wore a poppy that paid tribute to her grandmother) and Meghan Markle watched from the balcony.
