Meghan Markle has been quietly working to support women who are undertaking the task of job hunting - an overwhelming one at the best of times - but especially, during a global pandemic.

On Tuesday (March 15), the UK charity Smart Works revealed that the Duchess of Sussex has been sending personal notes to women who are currently job hunting, wishing them good luck.

While the bulk of the note was typed, Meghan included a handwritten personal message to each woman, showing off her renowned calligraphy skills.

In her message to one woman who was preparing for a job interview, Meghan wrote: 'You'll be amazing in your interview! Remember, deep breaths and be yourself.'

In another note, written to a woman who had recently been offered a job, Meghan wrote: 'I wanted to offer my personal congratulations on landing a new position in public health – I can’t think of anything more important right now. And I’m so pleased to know that Smart Works supported you in the lead-up to your successful job interview.'

The Duchess is Patron of Smart Works, an organisation that provides interview training and clothing to unemployed or vulnerable women who are job hunting. This month, Smart Works is being highlighted on—the website for Meghan and Prince Harry's foundation—in recognition of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day.

This recent gesture speaks to Meghan's love of old-fashioned forms of correspondence. In a personal essay for ELLE UK back in 2016, she described herself as 'a firm believer in handwritten notes.'

This is a trait she shares in common with Princess Diana, who was an avid writer of letters and thank-you notes—and, of course, was renowned for her extensive charity work.
