Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Have Privately Reached Out to Kate Middleton
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are understood to have privately reached out to Kate Middleton and Prince William following the Princess of Wales' Friday announcement that she's been diagnosed with cancer.
Both People and Entertainment Tonight report that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reached out to Kate, while the couples' spokesperson released a statement saying "We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace."
Prior to Kate's announcement, People spoke to a "family source" who said that Meghan and Harry were “aware of everything that goes on back in England but are being left out of any details regarding Kate. There is clearly no trust.”
Meanwhile, an insider close to the royals added, “It would be the normal run of things to go and see your sister-in-law who’s had a serious operation and also see your niece and nephews. But it isn’t normal. It’s terribly sad.”
Kate announced news of her diagnosis on March 22, saying in a video: "In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment."
The Princess of Wales added that it's taken her and Prince William "time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok." She continued, "As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits."
